Murky waters worry Johor residents

The main culprits are poultry farms, oil-palm plantation mills and rubbish disposal sites, a visit by Insight finds.

A villager in a neighbouring village, fisherman Zaihan Tahir, 78, fumes about empty fishing nets and income loss.

“Strangers”, as he describes them, had poured pesticide into the Sayong River two months ago to stun the fish, making them easy to catch. But the practice not only killed aquatic animals there, but also his livelihood.
