About 20 years ago, Cycle & Carriage (C&C) stock plunged 40 per cent within days, after German carmaker DaimlerChrysler said it would take over the distributorship of Mercedes-Benz cars in Singapore and Malaysia.

C&C (now Jardine C&C) had been operating the distributorship and dealership of this very lucrative enterprise for half a century.
