AirAsia flight QZ8501: Singapore Navy vessels head to area where debris & bodies were found

SINGAPORE - Three ships from the Singapore Navy are heading to the area where the bodies and debris of AirAsia flight QZ8501 have been found, Singapore Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen has said.

In a Facebook updated posted on Tursday, Dr Ng said that a (RSN) Formidable-class frigate, missile corvette and a landing ship tank "have been asked to proceed towards the area where bodies and debris were found".

Submarine support and rescue vessel, MV Swift Rescue, will also set out in the evening to join the operation, he wrote.

"The SAF will do all it can to assist Indonesia in this very difficult time. We offer our deepest sympathies to families of the passengers and crew," Dr Ng said.
