SINGAPORE - Many were shocked by the recent finding that there are 1,000 homeless people sleeping on the streets in Singapore. We knew there were some, but most of us had no idea that we have so many.

The finding was from the first nationwide study of homelessness in Singapore, done by Assistant Professor Ng Kok Hoe of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
