I am sometimes deathly afraid of losing my job, but I remind myself that my work does not define me.   

This fear was exacerbated by headlines over the past few months, screaming that scores of tech giants – everyone from Alphabet to Zoom – were laying off employees by the thousands, after years of enjoying seemingly unstoppable growth.
