A notification pops up on your phone asking you to take two photos, one of yourself and one of your surroundings. Meanwhile, a timer on the screen for two minutes starts counting down. You have to take these photos and submit them to the app before time runs out.

While this sounds like a dystopian future straight out of an episode of Black Mirror, it is actually from a very real, currently available app – and one that was just named by Apple as the iPhone app of the year 2022.
