SINGAPORE – My resolution for 2024 is to have more elements of spoken Mandarin around the home. The reason is simple: My youngest daughter, who will be in Secondary 3 next year, failed her Sec 2 Chinese examinations.
Part of the reason was that she decided to stop Chinese tuition in the middle of the year. “I’ll study on my own,” she declared.
