SINGAPORE - The new Public Defender's Office (PDO) to be set up by the end of this year to provide legal aid to needy accused people will require co-payment to prevent abuse and ensure that those accused of crimes contribute to their defence.
It will also have the right to withdraw aid from people who are found to have gamed the system, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Law.
