SINGAPORE - Wrap the fresh chicken with newspapers, put it inside a grocery bag with vegetables on top, and place the bag near your feet inside the car. That is the method used by Singaporeans to bring back fresh chickens – a prohibited act – from Johor, according to sellers there.
Chicken retailers and supermarket staff in the Malaysian state told The Straits Times that “quite a few” Singaporeans have been buying fresh chickens from them each week.
